Unison Choruses Canada (“Unison”) is looking for candidates interested in joining our Board of Directors. It is the intention of the Unison organization to build a Board of Directors that reflects the diversity in our 2SLGBTQIA+ choral community and includes representation from across Canada.

Unison’s Mandate

Unison is expanding its mandate to provide services to Canadian 2SLGBTQIA+ choruses year-round. The planning and operation of the 2022 Unison Festival in Halifax is being managed by a Festival Planning Committee that reports to the Board of Directors, instead of by the Board itself. This has freed the Board to manage other on-going services in parallel to the festival. Since the start of the pandemic, Unison has been hosting virtual roundtables for chorus leaders, helping our choruses build a network of support for each other.

Unison’s expanded mandate calls for national representation on the Board of Directors, to plan and deploy services that will be appropriate and useful to our choir community.

Board Candidates

Individuals interested in joining the Board of Directors are asked to write to admin@unisonchoruses.ca to indicate their interest. Please include your full name, choir affiliation (if any), your email address and your mailing address.

Candidates for the Board of Directors must be members of Unison Choruses Canada in good standing. Individual membership is open to any individual residing in Canada who supports the purposes of the organization as set out in Section 1.02 of its Bylaws. Election of Directors – Annual General Meeting

Elections for the Board of Directors will take place at Unison’s Annual General Meeting (AGM). The AGM will be held on Sunday, January 31, 2021 via video conference. The meeting will start at: 2:00 pm PT / 3:00 pm MT / 4:00 pm CT / 5:00 pm ET / 6:00 pm AT / 6:30 pm NT

Ten (10) positions on the Board of Directors are open for election at the AGM. The term for Board positions is two years.
